Makhana kheer: Vrat recipe!
Hello readers🙏Today I am sharing an easy vrat recipe or fast recipe. This recipe can be tried on every fast as its full of energy. Lets understand it better. I am sharing makhana kheer or foxnut kheer.Well they say, makhana is the new popcorn😁
Foxnuts also known as fool makhana or tal makhana is used in fasts. We can roast it and eat as a evening snack or we can make chat and even curry. Its a dryfruit and yeah its a bit costly.
Foxnuts are the lotus seeds and mainly found in abundance in bihar. Its also found in Japan and Korea.Another name for makhana is "Euryale Ferox".This name is from Greek mythology.
Ok let's begin the recipe.. Lets get started..
Ingredients needed:
1.Milk-1/2 litre( full cream/normal)
2.Makhana /foxnut-1/3 cup
3.Dry fruits( cashews, almonds, raisins). I used dry fruits + berries mix.
4.Sugar-Acc to your taste.. I added less than 1/2 cup.
5.cardamom powder/ elaichi powder-3-4( crushed).
6.Ghee: for roasting makhana
Procedure:(Time taken : 1/2 n hour, serves 3 people)
1.Take a heavy bottomed utensil and add milk in it. Let it boil.
2.Take a nonstick pan, add 2-3 tsps ghee and roast the makhanas.
3.Let it turn brownish and crunchy.
4.Now cut the makhanas into half. When the milk is boiled, add the roasted makhanas into it.
5.Stir it. Add dry fruits, sugar and elaichi powder.
6. Reduce it to half by cooking it in low flame. You can add custard powder also.
7.Our vrat recipe is ready to be served.
