Hello Blog members🙏🏻 Today am going to share an easy recipe of winter season.
Well all our nutritionists and dieticians say that we should eat the sesonal fruits and veggies. Here I am sharing with you two main vegetables of winter season which are methi( fenugreek leaves ) and radish ( mooli).
I am sharing the recipe of "Thepla".Theplas originated from Gujarat. Thepla are not same as chapati. Chapati is made by using wheat flour / atta. Theplas can be made multigrain. Theplas are the best travel companions as they will stay till 7 days if made in a correct way.
Lets begin the recipe. Lets dig in..
Ingredients reqd:
1.Radish -2
2.Methi leaves/ fenugreek leaves-1 bunch(chopped )
3.Ginger -1/2 inch( chopped / grated)
4.Green chillies-2( chopped).
5.Masalas : Coriander seeds( crushed)-1 tsp, fennel seeds-1 tsp, cumin / jeera seeds-1 tsp, turmeric powder-1/2 tsp, red chilli powder-1/2 tsp,ajwain ( carom seeds)-1/2 tsp, salt( as per taste),heeng -2 pinch, garam masala-1/2 tsp.
6.Oil -4 tsp
7.oil/ ghee for cooking
8.Wheat flour/ Atta-3 cups
Preparation( Time taken :15-20 mins)
1.Take radishes and grate them well with a grater. Grate the ginger as well. Keep them aside. Now we will prepare tge dough for thepla.
2.Take 3 cups of wheat flour, add the grated radish, ginger. Just squeeze the radish and take its water out and keep it aside and then add it into the flour.
3.Add the masalas likw crushed coriander seeds, carom seeds, fennel seeds and Cumin seeds. Add salt, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, chopped methi leaves, garam masala, white sesame seeds and 4 tsp oil.
4.Mix all the spices well and if needed add water. Add water accordingly and form the dough like chapati.
5.Now keep the dough aside for 15 mins. Apply oil on the dough as well so that it doesn't turn dry.
6.Start rolling the dough like chapati ( should be thin than chapati), You can even give shapes like triangle / square like a paratha.
7.Apply ghee / oil and flip it over like a paratha and bake it from both the sides well.
8.Our methi and mooli thepla is ready. Serve it with curd and pickle.
Note:
1.You can add some amount of besan to the dough.
2.If you want to take theplas on a journery, just add milk and then knead the dough so that it becomes soft.
3.Theplas can be made multigrain too.
You can make it with spinach leaves / any green leafy vegetables. You can add carrot, beetroot, bottle gourd( Lauki ), pumpkin.
