Hello readers🙏🏻 welcome to today's blog! I am sharing an easy yet delicious recipe. In weddings, specially in north, many stalls are kept and one thing you notice? There is a crowd specially near one stall which are liked by adults. That's the dal cheela which has a filling of paneer. I am recreating it with a twist. Let's get started..
Ingredients needed:
1.Mix dal- 1 added 1/3 cup whole green moong, yellow moong dal and mix dal- all qty should be equal to 1.5 cup.
2.Rice flour-2-3 tsps
3.veggies : I added lauki-1/3 cup( grated), Green chilli-2-3,ginger-1 inch, onion-1( finely chopped), coriander leaves- for garnishing.
4.Masalas : jeera seeds-1 tsp, heeng/ asafetida-2-3 pinches, salt, red chilli powder-1/2 tsp, garam masala -1/2 tsp.
5.Curd-1/2 cup or 2-3 tsps
6.Oil for baking the cheela
7.Paneer- crushed(I used homemade).
8.Baking soda/ eno-1/4 tsp or 1/2 tsp.
You can add spices acc to your taste. Add veggies like beetroot, corn, peas, methi leaves/ palak leaves, carrot.
Preparation: 3-4 hrs( soaking the dal), 10 mins for preparation.
Procedure :
1.Take the reqd qty of dals/ lentils in a bowl and wash it throughly till powder comes off and soak it for 3-4 hrs. If you have less time, soak for 2 hrs.
2.After soaking, the dals should swell up and easily broken. Now take a mixer grinder and add the dal, add ginger, green chilli, salt and grind it finely. Add water if you need.
3.Take the batter in a bowl, add rice flour, jeera seeds, red chilli powder, garam masala, coriander leaves and curd. Whisk it well and keep it at rest for about 15 mins.
4.After 15 mins add baking soda/ eno and mix it well. The cheela batter is ready.
5.Take a non-stick pan and apply oil nicely to grease the pan.
6.Take a full ladle of batter and pour it over the tawa and spread it in circular motion.
7.Now add oil on the sides and cover it 2 mins with a lid. Now you will see that the cheela will easily leave the pan and ready to be flipped on the other side.
8..Cook it well till brown on other side and now place the crushed paneer in between the cheela and flip it for around 1-2 mins and our cheela is ready to be served with green chutney / ketchup.
9.The kids will love the recipe. The family members will also easily eat them as its nutritious and full of protein.
10.Do try the cheela and share the recipe.
