Hello friends! Today I am making a south indian meal. You can make it as a lunch recipe. Its healthy and nutritious.
This blog includes Dal chutney, Avarakai poriyal and hot steamed rice.
Lets begin the recipe.. Let's get started..
Ingredients needed:
1.For Dal chutney:
1.Chana dal -1 cup
2.Dried red chilli-3-4
3.Garlic pods-6-7
4.Curry leaves-7-10,oil for tempering, heeng, mustard seeds, jeera seeds.
5.Salt( as per taste)
6.Tamarind ( imli)- lemon size ball.
7.Oil-you can use sesame oil( til oil).
For poriyal:
1.Avarakai ( broad beans/ sem fali)-250 gms.
2.Onion-1 ( finely chopped).
3.Green chilli-2( long slit)
4.Dried red chilli-2
5.oil for cooking
6.Urad dal, chana dal, heeng, curry leaves, mustard seeds, jeera seeds.
7.Dessicated coconut- for garnishing
8.Masalas: salt, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder.
Hot steamed rice:
Use your own choice of rice.(Basmati/ sona masoori). Cook in a open pan with ghee.
Procedure :Let's make the dal chutney first.
1.Take chana dal and roast it in oil till golden brown and becomes aromatic.
2.In the same pan add, mustard seeds, jeera seeds, heeng, curry leaves and dried red chilli and garlic pods.Saute it and add the roasted chana dal and let it cool and grind it with water.Add tamarind to the grinder.
3.Our dal chutney dal is ready to be served. Enjoy it with hot steaming rice or dosa/ idly.
Avarakai poriyal:
1.Wash the Avarakai or broad beans well and chop it into small pieces. Chop the seeds also as they are nutritious.
2.Now heat a pan, add oil, add mustard seeds, jeera seeds, heeng, curry leaves, chana dal, urad dal and dried red chillu.Sauté them well till golden brown.
3.Now add finely chopped onions and fry them.Add green chilli.
4.Add the chopped Avarakai , add salt and red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder.
5.Cover and cook the poriyal.It will take 10-15 mins to cook.
6.Finally add dessicated coconut as garnish.
7.Our poriyal is ready to be served.
Our meal is ready.
Add ghee to the rice and enjoy it with poriyal and chutney.
