Hey blog members! Today I am going to share an easy til patti recipe which anyone can make easily at home with easily available ingredients. This is my Mom's recipe.
Til patti is also know as ellu mutthai( tamil),tilkut, gajak,gajak patti.
These are made with white sesame seeds( til) and jaggery/ sugar when pounded together.
Its mainly made in whole India on makar sankranti.
Lets begin the recipe. Lets dig in..
Ingredients reqd:
1.Til( white sesame seeds)-1 cup
2.Gud( jaggery)/Sugar-1 cup
3.Ghee -1 tsp
4.Polythene / white plastic sheet-1
5.Rolling pin/ Belan
Preparation time:20 mins( serves 3 people)
1.Take 1 cup of white til wash it properly as it will contain mud particles. Just dry it well. Take a kadai / utensil and dry roast for 5-7 mins till it turns brown.
2.Now take it out in a plate and let it cool down. Add 1 cup of jaggery and 1 tsp of ghee in vessel and let the jaggery melt and become thick consistency.
3.You have to check by taking a cup full of water. Just take a piece of jaggery and dip in water and check whether it become hard like candy. ( it shoud break), If It didn't cook for 5-7 mins more.Now take the plastic sheet, grease it with ghee and keep it safely as ot will be needed soon.
4.Now you have to act fast, just add the til to the hot jaggery mix well till it gets somewhat hard. Cook for 2-5 mins and turn off the flame.
5.The mixture should be somewhat hot like when you touch you should feel hot but can be able to touch it. Just start spreading on the plastic sheet.
6.Now with the help of rolling pain/ belan, spread it well and big.
7.It will start to turn hard and spread it thin( how much thin you can).
8.Our til patti will be ready within 10 mins. Now leave it for 10 mins.
9.You will see that you will be able to break it into pieces and it will be hard.
10.Our tilpatti is ready. Store it in airtight container ( must).
